Everyone experiences mental block and it may take various forms. For a student, he/she might have encountered it during an exam or a recitation. An artist or two once had nothing decent to draw. And as for authors, it is the same. Mental block or in this case, Writer's Block is indeed inevitable.
First: Common Reasons for Writer's Block
Fear: Well, I myself is afraid of trying new ideas. But, let me tell you that it is a big factor of Writer's Block. It shuts down your passion.
Timing: Simply because sometimes, one's brain can't keep up with her desire. Just like in cooking, you need to wait for the right time to serve the dish.
Perfectionism: Many writers, especially those that have high expectations that they want to meet, tends to be a perfectionist if not, almost. Remember that no one is perfect except God the Father. And who knows, the imperfection might do you good.
Second: Possible Solutions
1. Eliminate distractions - Well, this may be am obvious one but, it can help you a lot.
2. Walk or run - It will promote blood flow that might help you in processing new ideas.
3. Change your environment - It might ease the pressure you are currently feeling.
4. Read a book - It may inspire you.
5. Listen to music - It will set the mood.
6. Drink some coffee - Who doesn't love coffee?
7. Brainstorm ideas - 'Cause, why not?
8. Read some inspiring quotes - This is to motivate yourself.
